About this project
Did you know that approximately 33 million children are out of school in Africa alone? In Nigeria, two-thirds of children in the poorest households are not in school, and it is estimated that almost 90% of them are most likely to never attend school. Startling facts indeed...but we can make a difference!
I lost my dad to a stroke just one week to my 6th birthday so I understand what it is like to be in a place of disadvantage as a child, especially with the many dreams you could have. As tough as things may have been, God brought several people who helped make it possible for me to go through school successfully up till my tertiary level where I'm currently studying Electronic Engineering. But this may not be the case for many of the orphaned or indigent children in our inner cities.
Education is not a privilege, it is a right; a right for every child. As needy as they are, they still have dreams. But without education, they miss out on opportunities to be great. Many of those roaming our streets and causing havoc and engaging in social vices were in this position years ago and they had no help. If we do nothing today about those in the same situation, we'll be mortgaging our future. This is why I'm taking a step in colouring the dreams of five (5) children who're out of school, in commemoration of my 24th birthday.
Five (5) is a very small number, but big things start small! It costs NGN30,000 to sponsor one child and I want you to be a part of this with me, through the InnerCity Mission #BackToSchool campaign. You can sponsor as much as you can and also get others you know to do so. It's the best birthday gift you could get me (winks).
Thank you for being a part of this, and God bless you richly!
